21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.



Ver. 21. Without preferring one] Or, without precipitation or prejudice. ÷ùñéò ðñïêñéìáôïò . Omne iudicium a se aufert, qui ad causam praeiudicium affert. A judge must not sit to hear persons, but causes; therefore justice is drawn blindfold.



Doing nothing by partiality] êáôá ðñïóêëéóéí , by tilting the balance on the one side, as the word signifies. An even hand must be carried between party and party. The contrary whereunto is called by the Greeks åôåñïìåñåéá , siding.
