2Sa_13:17 Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this [woman] out from me, and bolt the door after her.

Ver. 17. Put now this woman out from me.] His evil conscience he could not so easily thrust out of his bosom: this the poets call furies, quia ex furentibus cogitationibus promanant. Oh that we could cast out the idols of our hearts in like sort, saying unto them, Get ye hence! {Isa_30:22} Oh that we could, out of pure hatred of our sins, as heartily desire to forego them, as to have them forgiven: to part with them, as to have them pardoned!
