2Sa_23:12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
Ver. 12. In the midst of the ground, and defended it,] i.e., That part of the ground that had the lentiles; as Eleazar had done that part that had the barley. It was for provender, and about harvest, that they skirmished mostly. {1Sa_23:1}
