2Sa_7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
Ver. 12. And thou shalt sleep with thy fathers.] Quando cubitum te contuleris, When thou shalt go to bed. When God’s children have done their work, he sendeth them to bed. {Isa_57:2}
I will set up thy seed after thee.] Solomen; {1Ch_28:6} as also Christ: for this and the following promises are, some peculiar to Solomon, some to Christ; and some to both, as the types and antitypes.
