Ver. 2. Lovers of their own selves] This sinful self-love is the root of all the rest that follow in this black beadroll.



Boasters] Or, arrogant, as that Pyrgopolynices, Isa_10:8-11, Thrasonical {a} Lamech, Gen_4:23, where he brags and goes on to out dare God himself. Spaniards are said to be impudent braggers, and extremely proud in the lowest ebb of fortune.
