This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

Ver. 16. No man stood with me] So that Paul might have said as Socrates did, öéëïé, ïõäåéò öéëïò , My friends, I have never a friend. And as Plato, A friend is a very mutable creature, åõìåôáâëçôïí æùïí . Or, as he in Plautus, Ut cuique homini res parata est, firmi amici sunt. Si res lassae labant, itidem amici collabascunt.
