21 After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.



Ver. 21. Purposed in the spirit] i.e. By the instinct of the Holy Spirit, his counsellor and conduct, by whom all his actions were moderated. So he went bound in the spirit, Act_20:22. So Simeon came by the spirit into the temple, Luk_2:27. And so still, the steps of every good man are ordered by the Lord, Psa_37:23.
