16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.



Ver. 16. Wash away thy sins] By being inwardly baptized in the blood of Christ, by his merit and spirit. For there is baptismus flaminis et baptismus fluminis, a baptism of fire and water, Mat_3:11; hence we read of baptisms, Heb_6:2, and of the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost Tit_3:5. {See Trapp on "Act_2:38"}
