9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?



Ver. 9. Into the lower parts] That is, into his mother’s womb; according to Psa_139:15; "I was curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth," i.e. in the womb, where God formed and featured me: like as curious workmen, when they have some choice piece in hand, they perfect it in private, and then bring it forth to light for men to gaze at.
