Exo_19:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.
Ver. 21. And many of them perish.] As the men of Bethshemesh did for prying into the ark. {1Sa_6:19} Arcana Dei, sunt Arca Dei: God’s secrets are his ark. Eorum quae scire nec datur, nec fas est, docta est ignorantia; scientiae appetentia, insaniae species. {a} Not to know what is not fit to know, is a learned ignorance; to desire to know in that case is a kind of madness.
