Exo_5:4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

Ver 4. Let the people from their works.] Moses talks of sacrifice; Pharaoh of work. Anything seems due work to a carnal mind, saving God’s service; nothing superfluous but religious duties. {a} Seneca saith the Jews cast away a seventh part of their time upon a weekly Sabbath.
