22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Ver. 22. For it is written] It was enough of old to say, "It is written;" there was no need to quote chapter and verse, as now. Men were so ready (skilled) in the Scriptures, they could tell where to turn to anything at first hearing.
