This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Gen_2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.
Ver. 5. The Lord hath caused it to rain.] And none but he can give rain, {Jer_14:22} the means of fruitfulness, which yet he is not tied to as here. The Egyptians used in mockery to tell the Grecians, that if God should forget to rain, they might chance to starve for it.
