Gen_30:37 And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods.
Ver. 37. And of the hazel.] Or nut tree, Heb. Luz, which was the ancient name of the city of Bethel; {Gen_28:19} so called, as it seemeth, of nut trees growing there.
