31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.



Ver. 31. It is a fearful thing] For who knoweth the power of his anger? even according to thy fear is thy wrath, Psa_90:11. A melancholy man can fancy vast and terrible fears, fire, sword, racks, strappadoes, scalding lead, boiling pitch, running bell metal, and this to all eternity; yet all these are nothing to that wrath of God which none can either avoid or abide.
