Isa_59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance [for] clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
Ver. 17. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate,] i.e., Christ did; and so must every Christian, {Eph_6:14} where the apostle Paul soundeth the alarm, and describeth his weapons as here, defensive and offensive, alluding likely to this text.
