Jer_2:17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
Ver. 17. Hast thou not procured this to thyself?] The same may the Lord say to every sufferer: and further add, "Did not I warn you, saying, Sin not against the child?" {Gen_42:22} Oh, do not this abominable thing! your iniquities will undoubtedly be your ruin, &c.
When he led thee by the way.] The way that is called holy, the highway to heaven; fitly here opposed to those byways of carnal wisdom, mentioned in the following verses.
