Jer_37:9 Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
Ver. 9. Deceive not yourselves.] As far too many do, qui praesumendo sperant, et sperando pereunt. hope beforehand and will die hoping.
For they shall not depart,] scil., For altogether; not for any space of time, or to any purpose. Like hereunto is that in Mat_9:24, "The damsel is not dead."
