Jer_48:7 For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity [with] his priests and his princes together.
Ver. 7. For because thou hast trusted in thy works.] Thy creature confidence and thine idolatry have undone thee.
Chemosh shall go forth into captivlty.] Chemosh - unde Kùìïò - was the Moabites’ god, and is thought to be the same with Bacchus or Priapus. He is here called Chemosh by way of contempt.
