30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.



Ver. 30. If he were not a malefactor] Why? what evil had he done them? Might he not have said to them, as Themistocles to his Athenians, Are ye weary of receiving so many benefits by one man?
