28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
Ver. 28. Ye yourselves bear me witness] I should rather choose the just commendation of one good man (saith Rolloc upon this text) than the foolish admiration of a whole multitude, Equidem pluris fecerim iustam commendationem, &c. Demetrius hath good report of the truth itself, that is enough for him, 3Jn_1:12.
