26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

But as the mixed multitude came out of Egypt with Israel for a better fortune, and as he, Mat_20:13; "agreed for a penny;" as the harlot looks to the love tokens more than to the donor; so was it here. Worldlings, Ubi non vident quaestum, rident Christum: Ubi datur ut edant, adduci possunt, ut credant: they serve not the Lord Jesus Christ, but their own bellies.
