57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
Ver. 57. So he that eateth me, liveth by me] All out of Christ then, though they seem to have the only life of it (as Nabal, 1Sa_30:6; "Thus shall ye say to him that liveth"), yet in true account they are no better than living carcases, walking sepulchres, of themselves. Christ is the only principle and Prince of life; and his people only are heirs together of the grace of life, 1Pe_3:7.
