23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
Ver. 23. Ye are from beneath] Vos infernales estis, Ego Supernus. (Beza.) So the wicked are called the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea, Rev_12:12, in opposition to the Church, which is said to be in heaven, and called "Jerusalem which is above," Gal_4:26.
