Jdg_7:1 Then Jerubbaal, who [is] Gideon, and all the people that [were] with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

Ver. 1. Beside the well of Harod.] That is, Of terror; {see 1Sa_28:1; 1Sa_29:1} so called from the fear that there surprised Gideon’s army, who seeing the multitude of their enemies, said, as Caesar did at Rubicon, Yet we may go back; and so they did. {Jdg_7:3}
