Ver. 53. And the power of darkness] The "dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty," Psa_74:20. Creatures kept in the dark are fierce and furious. Had they known, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory, 1Co_2:8; "I did it ignorantly," saith Paul concerning his persecuting the saints, 1Ti_1:13.
