12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?



Ver. 12. Then came also publicans] These were toll takers, custom gatherers for the Romans, and most of them greedy gripers. Publicans they were called, because they took up publica, the goods of the empire. {See Trapp on "Mat_9:9"}
