When St Paul, that had been in the third, heaven, complains of his inward impurities, {Rom_7:15} and though he should have known no evil by himself, yet durst he not look to be thereby justified. {1Co_4:4} And holy Job could say, "If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; yet God would plunge me in the ditch, so that my own clothes should abhor me." {Job_9:30-31} And "If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities," saith David, "who should stand before thee?" {Psa_130:3}
