12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;



Ver. 12. Denying ungodliness] Every gospel truth strikes at some sin, and thereby may be discerned.



Soberly, righteously, and godly] This is the Christian man’s motto, his symbol, and the sum of his whole duty.

Haec tria sint vitae regula sancta tuae.
"
