1Jn_5:5. Confirmation of the preceding thought by an appeal to the experience of the readers (Lücke).
τίς ἐστιν ὁ νικῶν κ . τ . λ .] The same form of speech as in chap. 1Jn_2:22. The thought is: “Credens omnis et solus vincit” (Bengel). With ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστὶν κ . τ . λ . comp. 1Jn_5:1, chap. 1Jn_2:22, 1Jn_3:23.
The believer is victorious because he is born of God; 1Jn_5:1; 1Jn_5:4 (Düsterdieck).
