This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Joh_11:57. With the explanatory δέ ( καί is spurious) the particular circumstance is now added, on account of which men so greatly doubted of His coming.
δεδώκεισαν ] comes first with emphasis. Already had the directions of the rulers in question been given.
ἵνα object, and therewith contents of the ἐντολαί , the issuing of which we are to think of as the fruit of the sitting, Joh_11:47 ff., and of the further deliberations, Joh_11:53.
