points to the subject of the message just hinted at, Mat_26:11-12, viz. the death of Jesus; and although the allusion may be but slight, still it is an allusion in living connection with the thoughts of death that filled His soul, and one that naturally springs from the sorrowful emotion of His heart. The thing to which

refers is, when put in explicit terms, identical with
