πυλών
, door, doorway (see Luk_16:20; Act_10:17; Act_12:13 f., Mat_14:13; Revelation 21), it is usually supposed that it is the outer court in front of the house, the
προαύλιον
(see Poll. i. 77, ix. 16), that is meant.

(Matthaei, Scholz), because in such a connection it would be meaningless.
