This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Mat_27:31 Καὶ ἐνέδυσαν αὐτὸν τὰ ἱμάτ . αὐτοῦ ] His upper garments, for which they had substituted the sagum. This is in no way at variance with ἐνδύσαντες , Mat_27:28.
We are to understand that as the crown of thorns had now served its purpose, it was also taken off at the same time.
