Who by the mouth of thy servant David; through the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David; so it is read in many ancient copies; and shows, that what David and other holy men spake, was from the Holy Ghost, and is to be attended unto and believed as spoken by him.



Servant, or son; David’s relation to God is mentioned as a greater dignity than his being ruler over so great a people.



Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? It shows the unreasonable fury where which the enemies of God persecute his people, without cause, but what themselves imagine or make, and the event failing of their end; for all things work for good to them that love God, Rom_8:28; and the blood of martyrs have been found to be the seed of the church. These words are quoted out of Psa_2:1.
