GENESIS CHAPTER 48



Jacob being sick, Joseph comes and visits him, Gen_48:1,2. Jacob declares God’s appearances and promises to him, Gen_48:3,4; adopts Joseph’s two sons Manasseh and Ephraim to be fathers of two tribes in Israel, Gen_48:5,6; mentions Rachel’s death, and the place where he buried her, Gen_48:7; calls for his sons to bless them: Joseph brings and places them: Jacob purposely crosses his hands, Gen_48:8-14. His blessing on Joseph and his sons, Gen_48:15,16. Joseph interposes to remove his father’s hands, Gen_48:17,18. He declares the pre-eminence of the younger, but the other also blessed, Gen_48:19,20. Prophesieth of their return to Canaan, Gen_48:21. He gives Joseph a piece of land apart, Gen_48:22.
