BRUIT.—A bruit (pronounced as brute) is a rumour or report (Fr. bruit, from bruire to roar). Thus 2Ma_4:39 ‘the bruit of his manliness was spread everywhere’; Nah_3:19 ‘all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee.’
