CARRIAGE.—This word is always used in the AV [Note: Authorized Version.] in the literal sense of ‘something carried,’ never in the modern sense of a vehicle used for carrying. Thus Act_21:15 ‘we took up our carriages’ (RV [Note: Revised Version.] ‘baggage’).
