DIET.—In AV [Note: Authorized Version.] , apart from Sir_30:25, where it signifies ‘food,’ this word occurs only in Jer_52:34, where RV [Note: Revised Version.] has the more correct ‘allowance,’ i.e. of food, as AV [Note: Authorized Version.] in the parallel passage 2Ki_25:30. In Jer_40:5 the same word is rendered ‘victuals,’ but RVm [Note: Revised Version margin.] ‘allowance.’
