FROCK.—In the Greek text of Sir_40:4 the poor man’s dress is said to be of unbleached linen, paraphrased in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] as ‘a linen’ and in RV [Note: Revised Version.] as ‘a hempen frock.’ The Hebrew original has, ‘he that wraps himself in a mantle of hair’ (Smend), for which see Dress, § 4 (c).
