GELILOTH (‘stone circles,’ Jos_18:17).—Identical with the Gilgal of Jos_15:7, and possibly with the Bath-gilgal of Neh_12:29. It was a place on the border of Benjamin and Judah near the Ascent of Adummim. This last was probably in the neighbourhood of Tal‘ at ed-dum, a hill near the so-called ‘Inn of the Good Samaritan’ on the carriage road to Jericho. The word gelîlôth occurs also in the Heb. in Jos_13:2; Jos_22:10-11 and Joe_3:4, and is tr. [Note: translate or translation.] in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] either ‘borders’ or ‘coasts,’ RV [Note: Revised Version.] ‘regions.’
