HARODITE.—A designation applied in 2Sa_23:25 to two of David’s heroes, Shammah and Elika. The second is wanting in LXX [Note: Septuagint.] and in the parallel list in 1Ch_11:27. In the latter passage, by a common scribal error ‘the Harodite’ has been transformed into ‘the Harorite.’ ‘The Harodite’ was probably a native of ‘Ain-harod (Jalud), Jdg_7:1. See preceding article.
