AMMI (‘my people’).—The name to be applied to Israel in the time of restoration. It is to take the place of Lo-ammi (= ‘not my people’), the name given in the first instance by Hosea to Gomer’s third child, but in the prophetic fragment, Hos_1:9-11 [in Heb_2:1-3], referred to the people of Israel.
