JUSTUS.—This surname is given to three people in NT. 1. Joseph Barsabbas (Act_1:23). 2. Titus or Titius, host of St. Paul at Corinth (Act_18:7 RV [Note: Revised Version.] ; the MSS vary between these two forms, and some omit the first name altogether), apparently a Roman citizen who was a ‘proselyte of the gate’ (as he would later have been called), and converted to Christianity by the Apostle (Ramsay, St. Paul the Trav. p. 256). 3. A Jew named Jesus or Joshua who was with St. Paul in his first Roman imprisonment (Col_4:11).
