KADMIEL.—The name of a Levitical family which returned with Zerub. (Ezr_2:40 = Neh_7:43; cf. 1Es_5:26). In Ezr_3:9 (cf. 1Es_5:58), in connexion with the laying of the foundation of the Temple, as well as in Neh_9:4 f. (the day of humiliation) and Neh_10:9 (the sealing of the covenant), Kadmiel appears to be an individual. The name occurs further in Neh_12:8; Neh_12:24.
