ANATH.—The father of Shamgar (Jdg_3:31; Jdg_5:6). ‘Anât is the name of a goddess worshipped in Pal. (cf. Jdg_1:33, Jos_15:59, Isa_10:30); it is found on Egyptian monuments from the 18th dynasty.
