LIVELY.—In AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ‘lively’ sometimes means ‘living.’ Thus in 1Pe_2:5 Christians are ‘lively stones,’ while in the previous verse Christ is a ‘living stone,’ though the Gr. word is the same in both verses. The other passages are Act_7:38 ‘lively oracles’ and 1Pe_1:3 ‘lively hope.’
