POST.—‘Post’ is used in 2Ch_30:6, Est_8:14, Job_9:25, Jer_51:31 for ‘a bearer of despatches,’ ‘a runner.’ These runners were chosen from the king’s bodyguard, and were noted for their swiftness, whence Job’s simile (Job_9:25), ‘My days are swifter than a post.’
