ARBITE.—The LXX [Note: Septuagint.] (2Sa_23:35) apparently reads ‘the Archite,’ cf. Jos_16:2 and ‘Hushai the Archite,’ 2Sa_15:32; but a place ‘Arab. [Note: Arabic.] , in the S. of Judah, is mentioned Jos_15:52. In the parallel passage 1Ch_11:37 we find ‘the son of Ezhai,’ a reading which is supported by several MSS of the LXX [Note: Septuagint.] in 2Sam. l.c., and is probably correct.
