SEETHE.—This verb, which means to boil, occurs occasionally in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] , especially in the command (Exo_23:18 etc.), ‘Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.’ The past tense was sod, as Gen_25:29 ‘Jacob sod pottage’; and the past part. sodden, as Lam_4:10 ‘The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children.’
